===================== 1. What will happen to my Fuel Consumption (FC) AFTER the ECU tuning/remap? The ECU tuning/remap main objective is to create more power. As such, with proper ECU tuning/remap, your FC is expected to remain the same or actually improve. If your FC deteriorate drastically after tuning/remap, assuming your driving style remain the same as before, you should return to your tuner to check the vehicle again.
2. Must ECU tuning/remap be done on a dyno? It is not always necessary to perform the ECU tuning/remap on a dyno, if we or our partners have completed same make/model vehicle with similar configuration such as yours. There are as many customers who would like to see actual results as there are many customers who do not wish to have their cars on a dyno. As such, this is an option that you can decide. If we have never remapped a vehicle like yours before, we would advice to remap on a dyno. The dyno provides a safe environment to test and optimize your ECU maps, which cannot be achieved via street tuning alone. We do work with regular dyno centres, but will be happy to use any dyno centre of your choice.
3. Will ECU tuning/remap void warranty? Any modifications made to your vehicle could potentially void your warranty. With stock ECU programming, we do not need to splice wires or add visible hardware onto your vehicle. As such, there is no visual footprint as compared with Piggyback or other forms of modification e.g. changing your exhaust.
4. If I make modifications to the car, must I come for another ECU tuning/remap session? This is really dependent on what type of modifications you've made. Do contact us for more details. If your recent modifications are similar to our other customer's setup, we can also provide you with the upgrade.
5. What type of improvements will I see? Most customers tend to experience better Fuel Consumption after we remap their ECU. Do remember that the ECU tuning/remap optimises the performance across all rpm and across various throttle positions. As such, even if you seldom drive with "wide open throttle" or "pedal to the metal", you will feel that the car will pull stronger across all rpms. For hillclimbs, you may also no longer need to "drop gear" in order to get into the right power band, which improves the overall driving experience. Here are some dyno results for Normal Aspirated and Turbo Petrol. Diesel Turbo usually provide even better gains.
6. Is it possible that my car's stock ECU cannot be tuned/remap? We can remap/tune most modern day Stock ECU as we work with several partners across Europe and in Asia with diverse experiences in various makes/models e.g. Fiat, Renault, Mitsubishi etc
7. Do you deal with Piggyback ECU? Stock ECU remapping/tuning is usually preferred as we are actually "telling" the ECU maps what to do based on real data from various sensors. Piggyback usually alters signals from the sensors to move the ECU to a different part of the map to improve performance. As such, stock ECU tuning/remap is usually the preferred choice. There are good quality piggyback ECUs in the market and we are fortunate enough to be testing one from Europe and another from Australia currently. We hope to add these products soon to provide a wider range of options to you! So do stay Tune!
8. Why don't you post the actual gains for my type of vehicle? No tuner can guarantee the exact gains for any vehicles as there are several variables which may result in bhp differences in final results, sometimes more, sometimes less. Also the gains may not be meaningful if read on its own, since different part of your ECU map will have different gains. E.g. some websites may quote a 10 bhp increase, but fail to quote that this increase is only for 6,500 rpm and upwards. As such, we will post Dyno Charts whenever our customers are willing for us to do so e.g. see FAQ 5 as a guide. Do contact us if you wish to find out more.
